In 1957, Manuel Calvo painted in Paris elements, such as parts of a triangle and a square, within the great current that was being forged in European art at the time, geometric abstraction. This last trend would be the one the artist would opt for during seven years (1957-1964), a period of intense activity, of rigorous plastic experimentation and pictorial asceticism with very few elements and colors, inquiring into the continuity and unity of the plastic space.
Calvo participated in important national and foreign exhibitions, among others in the legendary Parisian gallery Denise René, standard bearer of geometric abstraction.
